BETHEL — Old Orchard Beach won its second game of the season Saturday, 26-14, but Telstar football coach Tim O’Connor is happy with the improvement the shorthanded Rebels are showing.

Devin Mason threw a pair of touchdown passes to Brayden Stevens and Tyler Hill. Mason’s first-quarter scoring pass to Stevens tied the score at 6-6. The TD pass to Hill came in the fourth quarter.

“Our team just doesn’t give up,” O’Connor said. “We just keep plugging away.”

Stevens and fellow linebacker Jacob Lyman recovered fumbles for the Rebels (0-5).

Bangor 2, Edward Little 1, OT

BANGOR — Bangor dispatched Edward Little 2-1 in overtime in field hockey action Saturday afternoon.

Bella Coulombe converted on an assist from Olivia Roth for the lone Red Eddies (4-7) goal.

Goalie Elise Syphers made four saves for Edward Little, goalie Sabrina Stern stopped 16 for the Rams (4-5-1) in the winning effort.

Leavitt 6, Morse 1

TURNER — Keriah Marston collected two goals to lead Leavitt to a 6-1 victory over Morse in field hockey action Saturday.

The Hornets (6-5) led 4-0 at the half. Ginny Twitchell pitched in with a goal and three assists for Leavitt.

Marcey Coffin converted a pass from Vanessa St. Pierre for the only Shipbuilders (5-6) goal.

Goalies Rebecca Click and Fiona Cashman made six and two saves, respectively, for Morse. Goalie Mallory Casey stopped three to earn the win in net for Leavitt.

Messalonskee 5, Oxford Hills 0

WATERVILLE — Autumn Littlefield recorded two goals and an assist to lead Messalonskee to a 5-0 shutout over Oxford Hills in field hockey action Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles led 3-0 at the midpoint. Megan Quirion contributed two assists, one in each half for Messalonskee.

Goalie Madison Day made four saves for the Vikings, while goalies Rylie Genest and Julia Vigue combined for a single save for Messalonskee in the winning effort.

St. Dominic 6, Cape Elizabeth 0

AUBURN — Kylie Leavitt notched the game-opening and then St. Dom’s coasted to a 6-0 victory over Cape Elizabeth in field hockey action Saturday afternoon.

Caroline Johnson collected two goals, while Paige Cote and Bailey Derocher had a pair of assists each. Cote also tallied a goal for the Saints. Leavitt assisted on the game’s last tally.

St. Dom’s took a 12-4 advantage in shots on goal in the winning effort.

Boys’ soccer

Lewiston 8, Oxford Hills 1

PARIS — Ahmed Abadir unloaded a pair of goals and chipped in with an assist as Lewiston sailed to an 8-1 victory over Oxford Hills in boys’ soccer action Saturday.

The Blue Devils (9-0-1) found the back of the net on seven occasions in the first half. Abdilahi Abdi contributed two assists.

Keegan Watson spoiled the shutout with a goal down the stretch for the Vikings (4-5) with 1:45 remaining.

Goalie Nick Martinez made 10 saves for Oxford Hills, while Dido Lumu repelled three to earn the win in net for Lewiston.

Mt. Blue 2, Edward Little 1

FARMINGTON — Sam Smith netted the game-winner in the 46th minute as Mt. Blue edged Edward Little 2-1 in boys’ soccer action Saturday.

The Cougars scored first behind a goal from Eli Teaton. The Red Eddies tied the contest at 1-1 just before the half with a goal from Christian Beliveau.

St. Dominic 3, Poland 0

POLAND — Jaden Webster, Ethan Bosse and Gaston Fuksa scored a goal each as St. Dom’s discharged Poland 3-0 in boys’ soccer action Saturday.

The Saints out shot the Knights 20-12 and took five corners to Poland’s two in the winning effort.

Girls’ soccer

Gray-New Gloucester 3, Waynflete 0

PORTLAND — Jordan Grant scored two first-half goals, both from Laurel Thomas, as the Patriots (7-4) beat the Flyers (1-8) at Portland.

Alexa Thayer added an unassisted goal in the second half.

Jess Connors finished with 13 saves for Waynflete.

Monmouth 4, Lisbon 0

MONMOUTH — Audrey Fletcher tabulated two goals and an assist to launch Monmouth to a 4-0 victory over Lisbon in girls’ soccer action Saturday.

The Mustangs galloped to a 3-0 halftime lead. Alicen Burnham contributed a goal and an assist, while Libby Clement rounded out the scoring with a tally of her own.

Monmouth was solid on defense, keeping Lisbon to just three shots over 80 minutes.

Goalie Carly Trischler made 15 saves for the Greyhounds, while Destiny Clough turned back three to earn the win in net for Monmouth.

Oxford Hills 2, Lewiston 1

LEWISTON — Bella Devivo notched the eventual game-winning goal as Oxford Hills clipped Lewiston 2-1 in girls’ soccer action Saturday.

The Vikings led 1-0 at the midpoint. Cecilia Deitrich scored the first goal with 2:45 remaining in the first half.

Brie Dube converted a relay from Leah Landry at the 22:54 mark of the second half for the Blue Devils to spoil the shutout for Oxford Hills.

Goalie Gemma Landry made 11 saves for Lewiston, while Jillian Douglas prevented nine to earn the win in net for Oxford Hills.
