Q&A

1) What legislation do you support, if any, to address the state’s opiate crisis?
I will support legislation that gives attention to opioid abusers, however I expect those policies to result in few repeat offenders. Otherwise, the policy will have to change so it works.

2) What legislation do you support, if any, to address failures in the state’s child abuse prevention system?
People with a purpose in life and whose priority is their family are less likely to abuse children. I will support family values policies to enhance healthy families.

3) Should schools continue to push forward with proficiency-based diplomas? Why or why not?
No. As a parent, I want to know where my child stands in terms of ability in all subjects, that way, I will know what areas of learning need work.

4) Are you in favor of some type of universal health care for Maine residents? Why, or why not?
I have little faith in the government’s ability to run health care. I am a capitalist and believe that private companies competing for clients bring out the best in everybody

5) Do you support Question 1 (the 3.8% tax to fund the home care program)? Why, or why not?
I am opposed to Question 1. It is a self-run government system lacking in proper oversight from the Legislature. If implemented, Maine will likely become the state with the highest income taxes.

6) Are you frustrated by the political sniping, exaggeration and even lies between the parties and their supporters that have threatened progress usually reached through respect and reasoned compromise? If so, what will you personally do to make the situation better?

This has been going on from day one of the founding of this country. Do not expect it to end. I can disagree with my adversaries in a civil way and do not attack anyone personally.

7) Tell voters something about yourself that they don’t already know, and might surprise them.
My newest vehicle was made in 2001, and it is a motorcycle. My regular driver is a 1996.
