STRONG — Jillian Schmelzer scored what ended up being the only goal just four minutes into the game for Winthrop in a 1-0 girls’ soccer win over Mt. Abram on Wednesday.

Schmelzer’s goal came via an assist from Aaliyah WilsonFalcone.

Mt. Abram (7-4) goalkeeper Emily Kidd saved eight shots, while Brooke Burnham saved four shots for Winthrop (8-3).

Lisbon 14, Dirigo 0

LISBON — Giana Russo led Lisbon with five goals in the Greyhound’s 14-0 girls’ soccer win over Dirigo on Wednesday.

Following Russo’s five goals was Kiley Millett of Lisbon (7-3-1), who scored four. Sophie and Emma Digregorio each scored a pair of goals, and Caitlyn Hall also found the back of the net once.

Lisbon outshot Dirigo 34-12. Lisbon goalkeeper Sarah Haggerty did not record a save in the first half while Abby Cunningham played in the second half and saved two shots.

Monmouth 9, Boothbay 2

MONMOUTH — Audrey Fletcher had a hat trick and five other Mustangs scored in an MVC girls’ soccer win over the Seahawks on Wednesday.

Abby Crawford had a pair of goals for Monmouth (10-1-0), while Alicen Burnham, Olivia Sirois, Bri Smith and Amaya Bauer all hit the back of the net.

Reagan Cola scored both of the goals for Boothbay (5-7-0), which got a combined 18-save performance from Emily Crocker and Hanna Cola.

Oxford Hills 3, Leavitt 0

PARIS — Oxford Hills received three goals from three different players in the first half to secure a 3-0 win over Leavitt on Wednesday in a girls’ soccer game.

Bella Divivo opened the scoring just four minutes into the game for Oxford Hills (6-3-1), followed by goals from Cecelia Dieterich and Emily Wallace as the half wound down. Dieterich also tallied an assist on the opening goal.

Leavitt (3-8-1) goalkeeper Shelby Varney saved 11 shots, while Vikings keeper Jillian Douglas saved 14 shots.

Poland 2, Sacopee Valley 1

HIRAM — Leya Harvey scored twice as Poland edged Sacopee Valley 2-1 on Wednesday in a girls’ soccer game.

Poland (3-7) was tied at halftime with Sacopee Valley (6-5) 1-1 after goals from Lakyn Hink and Harvey.

Harvey scored the winner for the Knights with three minutes remaining in the match.

Kylie Day saved 11 shots for Sacopee Valley while Gabrielle Bolduc saved 13 in the win.

Traip 2, Gray-NG 1

GRAY — Syndey Auclair had a goal and an assist to lead the Rangers (9-1) over the Patriots (6-5) on Wednesday.

Molly Sawtelle also scored for Traip.

Bri Jordan scored in the first half for Gray-New Gloucester, with an assist from Jordan Grant.

Dirigo 2, Carrabec 1, OT

DIXFIELD — Zeb Houghton set up Nolan Downs for a goal with 4:25 left in overtime to lift Dirigo to a 2-1 boys’ soccer win over Carrabec on Wednesday.

John Snowman scored the Cougars’ (2-8) first goal off an assist by Mateo LaPointe late in the first half.

Damon Rogers scored the Cobras’ (0-10) goal midway through the opening half.

Dirigo’s Loegan Hodgkin and Carrabec’s Bradley Clark each saved seven shots.

Hall-Dale 2, Mt. Abram 1

FARMINGDALE — Akira Warren and Ashtyn Abbott each scored goals to lead the Bulldogs to a 2-1 win over the Roadrunners in a battle of MVC boys’ soccer unbeatens on Wednesday.

Matt Albert and Josh Nadeau each had assists for Hall-Dale (10-0-0). Sam Shaefer made five saves.

Evan Allen scored a goal for Mt. Abram (9-1-0). Jack Deming had 16 saves.

Lisbon 2, Mountain Valley 2, tie

RUMFORD — Lisbon and Mountain Valley entered the first overtime period of their boys’ soccer game Wednesday tied at 2-2, and that’s how the game ended.

Lisbon (3-6-1) received goals from Jack Tibbetts and Camden Poisson, while Mountain Valley (4-5-1) had a goal each from Will Sorenson and Dalton Noyes, who scored the tying goal off an assist from Cam Gallant in the second half to force overtime.

Both goalkeepers saved the day on multiple occasions. Sean Moore stopped seven shots for Lisbon, while Kyle Kenney made five saves for the Falcons.

St. Dominic 1, Fryeburg 1, tie

FRYEBURG — Jack Ouellette put St. Dom’s (5-4-2) ahead on a feed from Ethan Bosse with five minutes remaining in the second half, but Gunner Gurnis answered after a Will Galligan pass with just two minutes left as Fryeburg (4-6-1) forced a draw in boys’ soccer play Wednesday.

Ben Gosselin turned back five shots for St. Dom’s, while Cullen Pietrantonio made three saves for Fryeburg.

Wiscasset/Boothbay 2, Spruce Mountain 0

JAY — Tim Chappelle and Jordan Espeut scored for Wiscasset/Boothbay in a 2-0 victory over Spruce Mountain in MVC boys’ soccer action Wednesday.

Caleb Gabriele made four saves in the shutout for Wiscasset/Boothbay (5-7). Jacob Bryant stopped seven shots for the Phoenix (1-9).

Field hockey

St. Dominic 8, Traip 0

KITTERY — Paige Cote scored five goals, including the final four for St. Dom’s, as the Saints defeated Traip 8-0 in field hockey on Wednesday.

Caroline Johnson scored a pair of goals for the Saints (9-2), and Bailey Derocher added one. Johnson also had an assist, while Kylie Leavitt led the team with three.

Traip (1-10) was outshot by St. Dom’s 23-3. It also trailed the Saint in corners 17-4.

Winthrop 4, Lisbon 0

WINTHROP — Gia Francis and Katie Perkins each scored two goals to pace the Ramblers to a 4-0 field hockey win over the Greyhounds on Wednesday.

Winthrop improves to 12-0 while Lisbon — which received a five-save performance from goalie Becky Budeshein — drops to 5-7.
