LIVERMORE FALLS — Firefighters spent several hours Monday cleaning up diesel fuel from a reserve tank that burst while a tractor-trailer was delivering groceries to Food City.

Some of the 45 gallons of fuel leaked into the store, Livermore Falls Fire Department Lt. Nixon Ortiz said.

About seven firefighters from Livermore Falls and Jay helped clean up the spill, he said.

The name of the trucking company and the driver were not immediately available.

Firefighters cleaned up the ground and put down absorbent pads to prevent the diesel from going into drains. They were there from about 10 a.m. to nearly 2 p.m.

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection was also at the site, Ortiz said.
