TURNER — The town Comprehensive Planning Committee will hold a public forum at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, in the Leavitt Institute Community Room. The subject is the town’s villages.

Town Manager Kurt Schaub wrote in a recent statement: “The classic New England village is often the image that comes to mind when people think of rural Maine. Turner is lucky enough to have three of them: Turner Center, Turner Village and North Turner.

“All have their roots as crossroads, and all are located along a stream or river that powered a former mill or other industrial use. They were the centers for commerce, for worship, education and more. Time has changed the villages, but they still radiate charm and their own unique attributes.”

Schaub said the Comprehensive Planning Committee is encouraging input from residents on the villages and their futures.
