JAY — The Regional School Unit 73 board of directors gave approval Thursday night for the junior class at Spruce Mountain High School to hold its prom at The Great Outdoors in Turner.

The Great Outdoors is a function and event facility on Pleasant Pond.

Principal TJ Plourde told the board Edward Little High School had used the facility on Route 117 for a prom when he was with that school.

Busing will be provided for students who need transportation.

Plourde said a couple of dates in May are being considered for the prom.

The board also approved changing the time of its meeting Oct. 25 from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Several board members will be attending the Maine School Management Association Fall Conference in Augusta that day.
