MAINE (WGME) — Some parts of Maine will see a fresh coating of snow Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for parts of the state.

Northern Somerset, Piscataquis, and Aroostook counties could see three to six inches of snow.

The chance for a coating of snow extends into areas of Kennebec and Androscoggin counties, and potentially some spots on the mid-coast.

Southern portions of the state will see rain through early Wednesday morning.

A more significant storm should bring rain to the area over the weekend, including the possibility of freezing rain or a wintry mix in the mountains.
