LEWISTON — The Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce will hold a breakfast meeting from 6:45 to 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Ramada Conference Center, 490 Pleasant St.

The theme is The Heart of a Soldier and the event is intended to show appreciation for veterans and active-duty servicemen and women. The Maine Music Society will sing the national anthem and the Franco American Veterans Color Guard Post 31 of Lewiston will present the colors.

Christina “Christy” Gardner, a retired Army veteran from Maine, will speak. She served as a military police officer and was injured overseas in 2006. Because of a her brain injury, she had to relearn English grammar and math. After being discharged from the rehab programs, she was able to live on her own and started participating in adaptive sports. When she isn’t competing or training, she is working on a Labrador farm.

Those attending are encouraged to come early to visit sponsors and spotlighters, and take advantage of networking opportunities.
