Thomas P. Staples

1961 – 2018

Lewiston – Thomas P. Staples, 57, of Oxford passed away on Monday, October 22, 2018. He was born in Norway on March 6, 1961 the son of Clarence “Spudie” and Donna Staples. He graduated from Oxford Hills High School in 1979 and attended Penn State. He married Constance Demers on September 18, 1987. Tom worked as a sprinkler fitter for Simplex Grinnell/Tyco. He was a member of the Oxford Lodge #18 AF & AM. He enjoyed hiking, camping and gardening. He made maple syrup and enjoyed canning. He loved NASCAR and John Deere tractors. Tom was totally devoted to his family and friends, helping in any way that he could.

He is survived by his wife of Oxford; three daughters, Michelle Demers, Margaret Staples and Martha Staples; his parents, Spudie and Donna; his grandchildren, Austin Sanborn, Taylor Demers and Brookelynn Sanborn; his maternal grandmother, Bernice Merrill; his sisters, Paula Staples and Michele Staples; nieces, Jessica Wilson and Megan Wing; and nephew, Seth Wilson; great nephews, Jacob Volpe, Riley Volpe and Noah Volpe; great nieces, Violet Wing, Gabriella Wing and Piper Stevens; his cousin, Ryan Kane; his aunts, Mary Ellen Louque and Karol Smith; and his beagle Sammy and grand pug Charlie. He was predeceased by his aunt, Kristen Kane; his uncles, James Kane and Mike Kane; his grandfather, James Kane; and his great grandmothers, Marguerite Kane and Margaret Staples.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 26 at 2 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Oxford. Family and friends may attend visitation on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oxford Hills Funeral Services, 1037 Main St., Oxford where Lodge #18 AF & AM will provide services at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, Office of Development2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
