AUGUSTA – Raymond L. Hodgkins, 79, of Augusta, passed away at the Heritage Rehabilitation and Living Center in Winthrop, Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018, after many years of declining health.

He was born in Lisbon Falls, Dec.  6, 1938, the son of Chester M. and Blanche G. (Harris) Hodgkins. Raymond graduated from Lisbon Falls High School in 1957. He served in the Army as a member of the 382nd Military Police Battalion in Germany from 1961 to 1963. After leaving military service, Raymond was employed with the State of Maine for thirty years, retiring in 1993. Raymond worked at Jeff’s Market, later becoming Twins Country Store from 1995 to 2011.

Over the years, Raymond enjoyed gardening, music, reading, and keeping up the book cart for PALS at the Turnpike Mall.

Raymond was predeceased by his mother in 1981, father in 1984, brother Maurice C. in 1953, sister G. Lorraine Libby in 1994, and brother-in-law Winfield Libby in 2003.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Donna J. (Smith) Hodgkins, of Augusta, extra special friends Darrell and Shelly, and his wife’s family.

The family would like to thank all who cared for Raymond during his last months of life, especially Beacon Hospice.

At Raymond’s request, there will be no service of any kind.
