LEWISTON — Lewiston High School’s dismissal was delayed Wednesday because emergency vehicles and police cars had to be cleared after a school employee had a medical issue.

Superintendent Bill Webster said communication about a school staffer needing emergency help went out on the scanner, when it should have simply been a call to 911.

“What was needed was one ambulance,” Webster said. “Because of the communication, everyone showed up. An ambulance and several police cars.”

With the current environment of so many shootings in the nation, the reaction prompted some to worry and wonder.

Students never were evacuated, Webster said, adding the male employee was recovering.
