LEWISTON — Starting at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, the Calderwood Consort will perform “Alleluya Nativitas,” a noonday concert of holiday music from the Middle Ages and Renaissance. The half-hour concert will take place at The Oasis of Music, at the Trinity Church.
The music performed dates from the 13th to the 17th centuries, including pieces by Adam de la Halle, Heinrich Isaac and Francesco Landini. Instruments played range from harp, psaltery, viols and vielle to recorders, crumhorns and voice.
Founded in 1976, the Calderwood Consort is a group of musicians who perform medieval and Renaissance music on period instruments. Dressed in costume, they make each concert festive, entertaining and informative. Current members of the Consort are Bea Asken, Ed Douglas, Carol Griffiths and Linda Johnston.
Admission to the Oasis of Music is free, with donations accepted. For more information, call 207-344-3106.
