DAVID L. MAGOON

1956 – 2018

AUBURN – David Lester Magoon, 62, of Mexico, died on Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, at the Hospice House, Auburn. He was born in Rumford, on March 13, 1956, and was the son of the late Harland Magoon and Robert and Lorraine (Robichaud Magoon) Legere.

He graduated from Rumford High School in 1974 and was State Wrestling Champion 1972/1973 and placed 4th in the New England’s that year. State Champ again in 1973/1974 and captain of the team his senior year taking a 2nd place in the New England’s in his weight class, and he also represented the State of Maine in a wrestling meet with a team from Russia that year. He passed his passion for wrestling on to his son, Cody.

He was proud of his trade as a welder/ironworker with a strong work ethic. He will be greatly missed by his Cianbro family where he worked for over 27 years.

David was a member of the F.O.E. and enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and gardening. He was known for his big heart, his love for family and friends. He attended family reunions and enjoyed getting together with his wrestling buddies.

Survivors include his mother, Lorraine Legere of Rumford; daughter, Kati Magoon of Rumford, son, Cody J. Magoon of Mexico; granddaughter, Anya and grandson, Xander Hatherley of Rumford; brother, Kenneth Magoon of South Rumford, sisters, Christine (Magoon) Fisher of Biddeford, Elizabeth (Magoon) Smith and husband Stephen of New Ipswich, N.H., Kim (Legere) Anctil and husband Dany of Mexico, Tammy (Legere) James and husband Richard, Jr. of Bethel, brother-in-law, Maurice Milligan of Milford, N.H. He was predeceased by Theresa (Magoon) Milligan.

Interment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Dixfield. Arrangements are under the care of the Meader  &  Son  Funeral Home, Cremation and Monument Services, 3 Franklin Street, P.O. Box 537, Rumford.
