Ruth E. Forbes

1934 – 2018

LIVERMORE FALLS – Ruth E. Forbes, 84, a resident of Livermore Falls, formerly a resident of Jay, passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018, in Livermore Falls at her daughter Barbara’s home, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born Sept. 15, 1934 in Livermore Falls, the daughter of John W. Hickey and Eleanor (Dodge) Hickey. She attended Jay schools. On Nov. 21, 1953 at Jay Baptist Church she married James L. Forbes.

They enjoyed 52 years together before his passing in November of 2005. Ruth spent her life caring for others and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, and most recently loved bird watching and puzzles. Ruth was a longtime member of the Jay Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughters, Elaine McFarland and her husband Albert of Clarksville, Tenn., and Barbara Cloutier and her husband, Rene, of Livermore Falls; her son, Wesley “Skip” Forbes and his wife, Ann, of Chesterville; grandchildren, Keith McFarland and wife, Holly, Kristen Johnson and husband, Brent, Ryan Cloutier and wife, Danni, Ranae L’ltalien and husband, Matt, Eric and Aaron Forbes; 12 great-grandchildren. Nieces dear to her heart, Rhonda Burden, Raelene Bean, Becky Doman, Sandy Warren and Shari Witham. She was predeceased by her parents; husband; brother, Harold Hickey and sister, Eileen Hickey Palmer.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., on Monday, Nov. 19, 2018, at FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church St., Livermore Falls, Maine. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m., prior to the funeral service.  Interment at a later date at Jay Hill Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Jay, Maine.
