Free documentary screening to be held

LEWISTON — In celebration of National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, Androscoggin Home Healthcare and Hospice is partnering with St. Mary’s Health System to offer a free screening of the film “Seven Songs for a Long Life,” a documentary following the lives of seven terminally ill individuals with music as a central theme promoting living fully with serious illness.

The screening will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, at St. Mary’s Lepage Conference Center, 99 Campus Ave. An informal conversation facilitated by hospice clinicians will follow the film screenin. No registration is required. Light refreshments will be served.

Country Sunday at Sportsmen’s Club

LITCHFIELD — Litchfield Sportsmen’s Club will host the Country Sunday from noon to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at the clubhouse on Hallowell Road.

Country music, dancing and food will make up the afternoon. This month, the club will host the Lost & Found Band, Dane Winslow, Diane Hanscom, John Whitman, Victoria and Gary Harvey and more. 

Doors will open at 11 a.m. Admission is $5 for adults, and children younger than 12 will be admitted for free. There will be door prizes and a 50/50 drawing. Concessions will be available.

The clubhouse has plenty of free parking and is handicapped-accessible.

Afternoon of Remembrance at Dempsey Center

LEWISTON — The Dempsey Center will hold its annual Afternoon of Remembrance from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2.

Their annual remembrance events give folks a chance to gather with others who have lost a loved one to cancer. The evening includes readings, songs and sharing, followed by refreshments and conversation.

Wreath making workshop at Beaver Park

LISBON — Lisbon Parks & Rec will be holding two workshops teaching Christmas wreath making at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, and Thursday, Dec. 6, at Beaver Park, 37 Cotton Road.

Cost is $15 and all materials are included. We have pinecones, ornaments and other decorations, as well as moss and natural materials. Verla will be the instructor. Sign up early as class size is limited.

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club plays at 9 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays in the Seniors’ Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave.

Drumming group making a beat 

LEWISTON — The Hand Drumming Group plays from 1 to 3 p.m. on the second Sunday of the month, at Trinity Church, 247 Bates St. 

All levels and styles of drummers can play, and they can bring their own instrument or try one of the club’s drums. The cost to play is by donation.
