LANCASTER,   Mass. – Genevieve E. Soloninka, 90, of Allen Hill Road, Oxford died Saturday morning, Nov. 24, 2018at her daughter’s home surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her husband, Henry I. Soloninka of 49 years, predeceased her in 1996. She leaves two daughters, Winnie Hodson and husband Frank Jr. of Oxford and Linda Oetman and her husband, Roger, of Lancaster, Mass.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was born in Shelbourn County, Nova Scotia, Jan. 11, 1928, the daughter of Harold Nickerson and Emma Gorham.

She attended school on Nantucket Island where she lived until moving to New Bedford, Mass. She married Henry I. Soloninka Oct. 17, 1946. She worked at Union Hospital in Mass., and Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway. She and her husband retired in Oxford in 1994.

She was a member of the Woodstock Seventh Day Adventist Church. Her retirement years were spent volunteering at the hospital, working with children at the Forestdale Christian School and enjoying the family she loved so much. She was a gifted knitter and has made hundreds of sweaters, afghans, baby blankets, mittens and hats, many that have been donated to hospital auxiliary and shelters. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crafting, reading and mostly her family. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She now rests, peacefully awaiting the return of Jesus… Who she loved and lived daily to represent….and taught her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to learn the meaning of Grace.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday Dec.  1, 2018 at 2 p.m., at the Woodstock Seventh Day Adventist Church at 25 Perkins Valley Road, Bryant Pond. Burial services at Hillside cemetery Paris in the spring. Online condolences may be shared with her family at www.chandlerfunerals.com
