LEWISTON — Wicked Illustrations Studio and Gallery, 140 Canal St., invites the public to a traditional solstice celebration and art opening from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21. Enjoy inspired art of the season by house artists, wine, music and even a Yule Log.

The exhibit will also have an added bonus.

Dec. 21 is the official first day of winter and has the longest night, the winter solstice. The primary intention of most winter solstice celebrations is to release the dark in favor of the light, the old in favor or the new, and to welcome back the light as each day begins to grow longer. So release the old when you enter Wicked and leave with something new.

Attendees are encouraged to bring in an item that represents something they wish to release in the new year and leave with a complimentary candle to light and send out good intentions for themselves and for the world. Everyone can make the intentions even stronger by lighting their candles at midnight on the night of the event.

For those who can’t make the event, candles will be available at Wicked beginning Dec. 1. The exhibit is free and open to the public and will be up through January.
