FARMINGTON — Fire destroyed half of a greenhouse and significantly damaged a tractor early Monday at Robin’s Flower Pot at 387 Webster Road, Fire Rescue Capt. Tim “TD” Hardy said Monday.

About 25 firefighters from Farmington and Wilton responded to the call at about 12:20 a.m.

It was one of nine greenhouses owned by Robin and Jim Jordan.

There was a wood entryway that caught fire and spread to the plastic part of the greenhouse. The tractor was parked next to the greenhouse. The greenhouse was about 25 feet from the residence.

The cause of the fire is undetermined, Hardy said.

The greenhouse was used to start seedlings, Robin Jordan said. There were no plants in it at when the fire started.

The wood structure — the front entrance — was what really went up in flames, she said.

The Jordans have operated the business for about 22 years, Jordan said.
