Lee Jackson is resigning from RSU 34’s Board of Directors.

Lee Jackson notified school board chair on Nov. 26 Jim Dill he will be resigning, effective Jan. 1. Jackson is stepping down to pursue a job opportunity.He declined to say what the job is specifically, but that it will be in public policy process.

“It happened very quickly. I was offered the job the day after Thanksgiving,” said Jackson. “ I felt that it was very important for the Board know on the next business day so arrangements could be made to fill my position. RSU 34 continues to accomplishing great things. It is crucial the board is kept at full strength to support those accomplishments and future opportunities for our students.”

Jackson has been on the school board for five years. At the time when he was elected in 2013, he was just 19 years old.

City councilors were expected to discuss appointing a replacement for Jackson at Monday night’s meeting. Results about that discussion were not available at press time.
