WEST PARIS – O’Neil T. Mills, 78, of West Paris, peacefully passed away in the early morning hours of Dec. 7, 2018, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born June 18, 1940 in Norway, the youngest of four sons, to Norman and Eva Mills.

A graduate of Gould Academy and Nichols College in Massachusetts, he was a Licensed Forester well known to many in the Western Maine Region for his meticulous approach to forestry management. He was an outdoorsman in every sense of the word and totally in his element managing wood harvest operations. As a member of multiple organizations, his contribution and leadership approach were well received by all. Noteworthy involvement in Small Woodlot Owners Association of Maine and the Grange were consistent with his love of the outdoors, agriculture and tree farming.

O’Neil was a devoted father and husband.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Carol Mills of West Paris; his brother, Sterling Mills of Bryant Pond; his two sons, Ryan Mills of Bethel and Randy Mills, his wife, Yvonne Mills, son, Jacob Mills and stepdaughter, Annika Kahkonen of Oxford.

He was a devoted family man who could be counted on, both in good times and adversity. Family members, friends and acquaintances described him as approachable, pleasant and a great conversationalist who was always willing to listen.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Central Maine Medical Center Oncology Services, PACE Ambulance and to the nursing and medical staff at Stephens Memorial Hospital for their professionalism and compassionate care.
