LEWISTON – Warren S. Chase, 85, of Lewiston died Thursday Nov. 29, 2018, at Central Maine Medical Center. He was born in Auburn on Dec. 27, 1933 a son of the late Frank and Ruth Chase. He was educated in local schools and after graduation he went on to proudly serve his Country in the U.S. Coast Guard for over 20 years. After retiring from the Coast Guard he owned the Empire Theatre, worked for L&A Tent & Awning , and drove all over the state delivering medications.

Wally was very active in The Auburn Tranquil Lodge #29, where he became a member in 1957, under his father, Dr. Frank L. Chase. He was the Master in 1981, and became chaplain in 1984 and the secretary in 2001, where he was still serving in these capacities until just a few years ago. Wally also loved trains. He was a member of The Great Falls Model Railroad. He had many model trains and if you ever visited his house, he loved showing them off. He also enjoyed traveling the country with his wife, Della, to see many train stations.

He is survived by his three children, Elizabeth “Betty” Fisher, Deborah Benjamin and David Chase, all of Massachusetts, his two stepdaughters, Teresa Phillips of Brunswick and Pamela Benware of Vt.; and two grandchildren.

At Wally’s request there will be no visitation. A masonic service will be held on Sunday, December 16 at 11 a.m., at The Tranquil Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St. Auburn. Committal will be held in the spring at Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
