Employees of Reed & Reed lift one of two trusses into place Thursday during construction of the new Beech Street Bridge in Lewiston. The two-lane, prefabricated bridge will replace a single-lane bridge over the canal, along Oxford Street. The project began in October and city officials are hoping to open the new bridge during the second week of January. Steel beams will be placed between the two trusses and eight inches of concrete will be placed on top of a sheet metal decking. The new bridge will allow for expanded activities and events at Simard-Payne Memorial Park. (Sun Journal photo by Daryn Slover)
