PORTLAND – Henry C. Plouff Jr. was born in Richmond, Maine, Sept. 30, 1930, to Juliet and 
Henry Plouff. Henry, with a wry smile to the end, lost his battle with cancer and passed away in Portland on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018.
Henry was married to Louise Jones Plouff for 64 years before her passing in April this year. They forged a wonderful life together, while creating vast memories for their sons and family. Father loved to take his boys camping and snowmobiling, plus he was a civics participant in his community, a quiet mentor, and often, even a mischievous friend to all. Henry’s spirit will live on in those many shared experiences.
Henry was easy to like, his easy-going manners and dry wit helping to create lasting relationships all through his life. A Korean War veteran, Henry came home from the war and worked for over 35-years for the USPS in Richmond and Lewiston, before retiring at 57 to his home in Greene where he pursued his puttering initiatives while in his favored woodshop. Henry was an accomplished, self-taught woodworker often creating furniture for family and gifts for others. He had also built the family’s first home in Dresden in 1959.
Henry and Louise spent many years traveling America with their fifth-wheel camper before deciding to spend winters in Florida, where they cultivated numerous new friends.
Father is survived by his three sons and their wives; Jeffrey and Cathy from Woolwich, Gary and Maureen from Portland and North Andover, Mass., plus Tim and Kathy from Otis. Henry also leaves four grandchildren, Jennifer, Erin, Juliet and David, and two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Henry, as well as his beloved sister, Claire Sidelinger and her two sons and their wives. He also leaves the Jones family in-laws, George and Cynthia, Mary, David, Brian and Sandy and the numerous nieces and nephews that were part of a large extended family.
Please share condolences with the family at the Kincer Funeral Home in Richmond on Monday, Dec. 17, 2018 from 10-11a.m., with a service to follow at 11 a.m.
