LEWISTON – Louis R. Chicoine, 82, a resident of Livermore, passed away Friday morning, Dec. 14, 2018, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. He was born July 20, 1936 in Jay, the son of Louis N. Chicoine and Isabelle (Veilleux) Chicoine. He was a graduate of Jay High School. On July 20, 1957 he married Vivian Grondin at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. He was a communicant at St. Rose of Lima Church and a member of the International Paper Company Quarter Century Club. Louis worked as a crane operator in the wood yards for International Paper Company at the Otis and Androscoggin Mills in Jay, until his retirement in 1997.

Following his retirement, he and his wife loved to travel and spent many happy winters in Las Vegas. Louis was a skilled handyman who built their log home on Round Pond and loved sitting on the swing with his wife looking out over the lake and watching the wildlife. He loved being surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and spent many happy hours watching them swim and play. He enjoyed playing golf at Maple Lane Golf Course in Livermore, feeding the birds and battling the squirrels. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Vivian Chicoine of Livermore; his son, Roger Chicoine and his wife, Amy of Buckfield, his daughters, Brenda Duguay and her husband, Mike of Rumford, Cindy Decker and her husband, Derick of Rumford, Doreen Rumery and her husband, Turner of Dayton, Eileen Castonguay and her husband, Robert of Livermore and Ann Raney and her husband, Joe of Michigan; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; his sisters, Doris Wilson, Theresa McKenna and her husband, Dick and Arlene Landry and her husband, Al, his sisters-in-law, Frances Chicoine and Irene Bryant and his brother-in-law, Francis Grondin.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Rita Burke and Christine Harlow, his brothers Clarence and Armand Chicoine and his beloved dog, “Strike”.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m., Monday, December 17, at St. Rose of Lima Church, 1 Church Street, Jay. Interment in the spring at Holy Cross Cemetery, 445 Park Street, Livermore Falls. Visitation 6-8 p.m., Sunday, December 16, at FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church Street, Livermore Falls.
