FARMINGTON — The Old South Church Concert Series will welcome Celtic musicians from Prince Edward Island to the stage to kick off the 2019 season.

Internationally renowned fiddler and step dancer Richard Wood and guitarist Gordon Belsher will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17.

For more than two decades, Wood has been applauded by audiences across Canada, as well as in the United States, Europe, Japan and Australia. He has played for Canada’s prime minister and governor general, the queen of England  in Toronto, and for the emperor of Japan in Tokyo.

Belsher has been entertaining audiences in Canada and around the world for more than 40 years, performing solo at concerts, conventions and pubs. In 2014, he received the Music PEI’s Lifetime Achievement Award. His album “Vagabond Minstrel” was nominated for Male Solo Recording of the Year at the 2015 Music PEI awards.

Adult tickets are $15, and students’ are $10/$5. Students participating in the jam session that begins at 6:15 p.m. get free admission to the concert. Ticket reservations are available by calling 207-491-5919.

Old South Church is at 235 Main St. and is handicapped accessible.
