BLAINE, Minn. — Zack DeBroom scored with one second left in the second period to break a tie, and the Granite City Lumberjacks held on to beat the L/A Nordiques, 2-1, at the NA3HL Showcase on Monday.

With time winding down in the middle period, Grant Troumbly circled around the net and tried to slide a shot past L/A goalie Daniel Miller at the left post. DeBroom came crashing in and poked the puck home before the horn sounded.

Jordan Olson had the secondary assist after his point shot was blocked by Miller and redirected to DeBroom, who moments later fired his own shot that Miller stopped. Troumbly picked up the rebound before he rounded the net from right to left.

The West Division-leading Lumberjacks scored first, with Ryan Pogue breaking the ice 13:38 in. Bailey Sommers and Blake Spetz had assists. Zack Mullen answered for the Nordiques 57 seconds later, with Joshua Malone and Joshua Sanchez providing the helpers.

Miller stopped 37 of 39 shots for the Nordiques, who had their 17-game winning streak snapped. David Mulligan made 20 saves for the Lumberjacks.
