WINTHROP – Doc Stanley ”Mickey” Leroy Painter Jr., D.O., 81, a resident of Winthrop, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018 at his residence. He was born Sept. 30, 1937, in Auburn, Maine, the son of Stanley L. Painter Sr., and Erma Patty (Barton) Painter. Stanley graduated from Cony High School, class of 1955. In 1959, he received his AB in biology from Colby College in Waterville. His post graduate study was at University of Maine in Orono from 1960-1962.  Then he graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, class of 1966 in Kirksville, Mo. Dr. Painter did his internship at Waterville Osteopathic Hospital from 1966-1967. Dr. Painter proudly served his country in the United States Naval Reserve from 1954-1962. He started his private family practice in 1967 and retired from his practice in 2011. Stanley was a member of the Monmouth Masonic Lodge # 110 A. F. & A. M. for 55-plus years, Winthrop Royal Arch Mason, 37 Past High Priest,  a former member of Maine Lodge of Research, a member of Valley of Augusta Scottish Rite, Portland Maine Consistory, and a member of the Kora Shriners. He also served over 60 years in the Maine Gladiolus Society, and was a former member of North American Gladiolus Council.

He enjoyed being a former member of Maine Iris Society and the American Iris Society, and the American Orchid Society. Stanley was also a former member of American Guild of Organists. He was a former member of American Osteopathic Association, National American Medical Examiners, and a former State of Maine Medical Examiner. Stanley was a ring side doctor for boxing in the State of Maine. He was predeceased by his parents.  Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.finleyfuneralhome.com

Funeral services will be held at BRAGDON-FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 707 Main St., Monmouth, on Saturday at 1 p.m., Dec. 22, 2018, with the Masonic services. Interment will be in the spring at Monmouth Ridge Cemetery, Monmouth Maine.
