LEWISTON – Raynald A. Beaucage, 99, a resident of Lewiston passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston, three days after entering the hospital and two days after his 99th birthday, surrounded by his family.  He was born in Lewiston, Dec. 15, 1919, the eldest of three children to the late Donat and Dolores (Paquette) Beaucage.

Having lost his father when he was eight years old, he had to grow up fast to help his mother. He attended St. Peters School until the tenth grade. He then attended Lewiston High School and graduated in the class of 1939.

In 1940 he had the opportunity to attend The National Youth Administration School at Quoddy Village, Maine in Reproduction and Woodworking Class. His class photo had this quote “Never give up when the going gets hard.”

He married the love of his life, May Dionne, on Jan. 24, 1942, at Ste. Croix Church, Lewiston, Maine, she passed away in October of 2013 after almost 72 years of marriage. He served with the Army Air Corps in the European Theater of Operation during World War II and prior to retiring in 1982, worked at Philips Elmet for 35 years.

He was a member of Ste. Croix Church, and belong to the League of Sacred Heart. In his younger years was involved with various church organizations, and in his retirement years was always ready to help anyone with carpentry and painting projects.

He is survived by his three children; daughter, Janet and Andre DuBois of Lewiston; two sons, Paul and Diane Beaucage of Auburn, Leo and Gail Beaucage of Lewiston. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Eric, Alaina, Craig, Suzette and Timothy Beaucage, Richard and Kevin Giguere and Amy Giguere Wiers; 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his two sisters, the youngest Juliana Pomerleau in 2016, and Lolitha Richard in 2017.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Mary’s in the emergency unit, and especially those compassionate nurses in C-3 for the care they gave our Dad. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2018 at the Albert  Burpee Funeral Home, 253 Pine St., Lewiston, Maine, from 2-4 p.m., and 6-8 p.m. Services will be on Monday, Dec. 24, 2018, at Holy Cross Church at 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
