PERU – On Dec. 23, 2018, heaven welcomed a new angel as Charlene Papsadora passed at her residence on the Gammon Road in Peru with her family by her side.

She was born Sept. 17, 1946 in Rumford, Maine. She was the second of six children of Charles W. and Jean (Myles) Quimby Sr.

“Cha” graduated from Mexico High School in the class of 1964. She worked for many years in various positions at Woodworkers Federal Credit Union and Oxford Federal Credit Union. After retiring from OFCU, she worked part time for the Rumford Group Home and fully retired only after her illness prevented her from working. She truly enjoyed the people she worked with and met as part of her long working career.

She was married on July 1, 1967, to William “Bill” Papsadora, celebrating over 51 years of marriage together. Charlene converted to the Catholic faith when she married her husband, and with the guidance of her friend Jeanne Bedard. She was a communicant of the Parish of the Holy Savior St. Athanasius and St. John Church in Rumford. When not in town or away for the winter, she and Bill would attend mass wherever they were.

Charlene enjoyed her family and friends immensely. She often took her grandchildren camping, usually with her husband, and sometimes with her sisters, Ann and Sue.  She loved a good campfire, cooking hotdogs, and being by the ocean! For many summers, “Char” and Bill had a trailer at Rioux’s Cove in Peru and later a seasonal camper at Head Beach Campground in Phippsburg. They also spent many winters in Florida together in Sun City Center.

She is survived by those she loved dearly, her husband Bill of Peru; two sons, Michael and his wife Kimberly of Rumford and William “Billy” Jr. and his companion Joanne of Dedham; four grandchildren, Matthew and his wife Tracie of Caribou, Trevor and his fiancé Myles of Portland, Nathan of Bangor, and Zach and his wife Kayla of Boston; two great-grandsons, Kaden and Cameron of Caribou; a brother, Charles Quimby Jr. and his companion Dorothy of Mexico; three sisters, Sandra “Sandee” Welch of Rumford, Susan Parent and her husband Lionel of Rumford, and Ann Arsenault and her husband Michael of Peru; and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Nancy Snowman, and her brother-in-law Richard Welch; her mother in-law Anne Papsadora, and brother-in-laws Timothy and Danny Papsadora; also by sister-in-law, Judy Walker.

Friends and family are invited to sign the online guest book and share memories with the family at www.meaderandson.com.
