LISBON – Russell Blanchard Moors died Dec. 22, 2018, in Lisbon at The Lamp Memory Care Center after a long illness. He was born on April 23, 1932, the only child of Elizabeth and Carlton Moors. Russ lived most of his life in Auburn.

Russ was educated in Auburn and after high school graduation he served in the United States Army in the Korean War. He was very proud to be a veteran.  After his return from military service, Russ began his 40 year career in the Maine shoe industry at Lown Shoe Company in Auburn. Over the course of his career he worked in sales and various executive positions in a number of companies in the two cities, Freeport and Portland. After retiring from the shoe industry, he had a second career as a tax preparer at H&R Block, where he made many friends.

Russ married Joan Harlow on July 2, 1955. They were married for 55 years until Joan’s death in 2010. Together they raised four children, grew a beautiful garden which was visited by many community members, and pursued their love of depression era glass. Russ was a founding member of the Maine Iris Society where he had many dear friends over the years.

Russell is survived by his four children: Lynelle Philbrick and her husband, Daniel Philbrick, of Auburn; Shawn Moors of Auburn; Terry Moors and partner, Robert Spector, of Fort Lauderdale Fla.; and Faylene Macko and her husband, Stephen Macko, of Charlottesville, Va.

Russell is also survived by his grandchildren, Katie Philbrick, Kelsey Philbrick, Christopher Macko, Nikolas Macko and his wife, Sarah Macko, Rebekah Macko and her husband, Kevin Dinshah. Russ is survived also by his great-grandson, Lance Dinshah.

Our family would like to express our gratitude for the many devoted caregivers who took care of Russ in his last years.

At Russ’s request no services will be held.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to: Responsible Pet Care
