WEST BATH – Rita R. McGuigan, 87, of Old Farm Road died, Sunday, Dec. 23, 2018, at her residence.

She was born in Lewiston on Oct. 24, 1931, the daughter of Amedee E. and Yvonne B. (Tardif) Plante.

On May 30, 1952 she married Hugh E. McGuigan. She was employed at Lewiston mills and shoe shops, and Bath Iron Works Paint Department, retiring in 1994.

She was a member of the Bath Area Senior Citizens, the Coasters and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bath.

She enjoyed gardening, traveling and volunteering at the Bath Area Senior Citizens and Coasters.

She was predeceased by her husband, Hugh E. McGuigan (2006); her daughter, Elaine S. Jacobs (2014); and one brother, Marcel Plante (1929).

She is survived by one daughter, Kathleen A. Perry (Keith), of West Bath; one son, Edward M. McGuigan, of Bath; one sister, Rolande Simoneau (Robert) of Lewiston; one sister-in-law, Arline Hicks, of Aransas Pass, Texas; as well as four granddaughters, one great-grandson, six nieces and nephews, and many cousins in Canada.

At Mrs. McGuigan’s request, there will be no visiting hours. Burial will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath at a later date. The family wishes to thank Mid Coast Hospital and CHANS/Hospice for their care.
