FARMINGTON – Elaine A. Roy, 76, of the River Valley area, passed away at Orchard Park Nursing Home early Christmas morning. She was born Sept. 21, 1942 in Rumford, the daughter of Oliver and Ida (Richard) Merritt.
She attended School in Rumford and went on to raise her three children. She kept busy working at the family’s variety store and gas station, Roy’s Service Station. Elaine enjoyed attending church at many places of worship over the years and made sure to be there for local young folk who needed guidance and support. She also enjoyed knitting, painting and building puzzles of all kinds.
Surviving her are three children, Kimberly Wright, Kevin Roy, and Synthia Roy; three grandchildren, Brittany Wright, Rebecca Wright, and Dylan Wright; and a great-granddaughter, Olivia Turbide.
A memorial service will be held Monday Dec. 31, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Wiles Remembrance Center, 308 Franklin Rd., Jay, with Reverend Larry Shaw officiating. Condolences may be left on her memory wall at www.wilesrc.com
