HIRAM — At least one person was seriously injured in a head-on collision Tuesday evening on Route 113, Oxford County Sheriff’s Deputy Zane Loper said.

The identities of the four people involved — two from Yarmouth and two from Hiram — were not being released until their families were notified, Loper said.

The investigator said a Hyundai Sonata driven by a 27-year-old woman from Hiram crossed the centerline and struck a Subaru Outback driven by a 77-year-old woman from Yarmouth.

The Hiram woman and her 6-year-old son were taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland, Loper said.

The Yarmouth woman was also taken to the Portland hospital by ambulance, while her 76-year-old male passenger was flown there because of the seriousness of his injuries, Loper said.

Both cars were demolished.

Maine State Police Trooper Dan Hanson said he was called to reconstruct the crash, which remains under investigation.

The identities of all four people were expected to be released Wednesday by the Sheriff’s Office, Loper said.

Hiram Fire Department and Sacopee Rescue assisted police.
