NORWAY — Police Chief Rob Federico and Fire Chief Dennis Yates presented certificates of special recognition at Thursday evening’s Board of Selectmen meeting to several officers with the police and fire departments who have served in the military.
Federico said that the certificates, which were given to the departments by Sen. Angus King, included a note that lauded each officer for having “a tremendous impact on Maine” and continuing to show “commitment to the defense of our nation” by becoming first responders after serving in the military.
Certificates were given to Det. Gary Hill, and Officers James Ventresca and John Lewis.
Yates presented certificates to Silas Parlin and Terry Twitchell, both long-time officers with the fire department.
In other business, the board voted unanimously to accept $10,771 in donations and reimbursements for the following:
• $2,195 donation from the Oxford Hills Fire Prevention Group to be used toward fire training; and
• $8,576 reimbursement from FEMA for a storm in October 2017.
