RUMFORD – Francis J. Gallant, 87, died Friday Jan. 4, 2019 at the Rumford Hospital.  He was a resident of Royal Ave. in Rumford.

Born in Rumford on July 12, 1931; he was the son of Stephen and Mary Ann (Arsenault) Gallant. He was a graduate of Stephens High School in Rumford, class of 1949. Francis worked as a hydraulic specialist for Boise Cascade Paper Mill in Rumford until his retirement. He was a member of Oakdale Country Club in Mexico, member of the Boise Cascade 40 year club; he enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Francis was married in Rumford on Nov. 3, 1951 to Constance “Connie” Benedix who survives, of Rumford. Other survivors include three sons, Francis Gallant, Jr. and wife Kathy of Derry, N.H., Michael Gallant and wife Christine of Concord, N.H., Stephen Gallant and wife Lisa of Lincoln, Neb.; a daughter, Kim Gallant and husband Donald of Davenport, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Richard.
