DEAR SUN SPOTS: Regarding the Jan. 1 Sun Spots about John Murphy Homes accepting trophies to reuse, I tried emailing them at the address you listed to inquire about plaques and the email came back as undeliverable.  You may want to verify their email address.

— No name, no town

ANSWER: What would I do without my eagle-eyed readers? I had used that email address this past summer without an issue. I called John Murphy Homes today and the correct email address is info@jfmh.org.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: What has happened to Dave Sargent’s column, River Views? I haven’t seen it in a while and I’m missing it.

— No name, no town

ANSWER: Yes, Dave has written his River Views column for the Sun Journal for many years. He’s taking a break for now. I miss it, too!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m looking for people who knit or crochet baby items, whether it be blankets, caps, booties, sweaters or whatever. I have a very nice variety of baby yarn to give away. I am hoping some or all of it can go to someone who donates items to the local hospitals. I know there are such people out there and I am hoping to get me in contact with them. Crafters can contact me at 207-577-4271. Thank you for what you do.

— Charlotte, no town

ANSWER: I know you will get a lot of calls about this yarn. Thank you for thinking of a way for it to be used that will benefit others. Let us know how it goes!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a lot of photos on a thumb drive and would like to have them transferred to a DVD that can be watched on TV. Do you have anyone in your Rolodex who can do this in the Lewiston-Auburn area? Thank you for all the help you give people.

— Lucy, no town

ANSWER: Photo Finish at the Auburn Mall (207-783-3354) provides this service. They are open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. There’s lots of great information on their website at mainephotofinish.com.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have an 8mm movie projector that has a broken part near the lens, making it inoperable. Does anyone in Maine repair Kodak equipment or does anyone have a similar projector that doesn’t work? Maybe we can combine parts and resources and fix one of them.

— Don, Lewiston

ANSWER: It would be great if you can join forces with another reader to repair your projector. Parts can also be found on eBay then you can go to YouTube to view how to make the repair. I don’t think it will be an inexpensive project, however.

You may want to consider contacting Photo Finish (207-783-3354) and having your 8mm movies transferred to a DVD that you can watch on your computer or television.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I watch some two- to three-year-old country western shows on RFD-TV on Cable Channel 297. Are the commercials new or are they older, too?

— No name, Peru

ANSWER: I believe those commercials are current. If a reader has more of an explanation for our curious Peru reader, please chime in!
