AUBURN –  Robert “Bob” Linwood Dwyer, Sr. 74, of South Main St., Auburn, died Wednesday Jan. 9, at Massachusetts General Hospital with loving family at his side. Born in Lewiston on June 5, 1944, Bob was the son of the late Cecil and Eleanor (Newcomb) Dwyer.

Bob married his true love, Anita, on March 22, 1969.  Together Bob and Anita shared 50 years of joy, heartache, laughter, and tears, remaining side by side through it all.

Bob worked for Akers & Chrysler as a carpet salesman from 1969-1986 and then for RLH Flooring with his son Richard until 2000.  Bob then worked for the Auburn School Dept. until 2009. After leaving the Auburn School Dept. he went to work with his wife and daughter at Mammy’s Childcare and Preschool. He loved working so closely with his wife and daughter and caring for the kids who affectionately called him “Grampy”.

Bob was a former member of St. Louis Church and was now attending Sacred Heart Church.  He loved caring for his dog Lilly and rooting for the Patriots. He treasured his special trips to Canada with Anita. Bob’s true joy in life was family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed teaching them to drive, shaking his head while listening to their stories, and rolling his eyes at their silliness. An amazing husband, father and grandfather, he will forever be in our hearts.

He is survived by his wife Anita Dwyer of Auburn; his five children, James and wife Lise of Lewiston, Laurianne and husband Scott of Monmouth, Michael and wife Michelle of Poland, Tammy of Auburn and Robert and wife Shannon of Brookline, N.H.; 15 grandchildren, Tanley, James, Scott, Shannon, Sarah, Sierra, Haley, Lacey, Logan, Sydney, Joseph, Amanda, Mindy, Robbie and Jake. He was predeceased by his parents, Cecil and Eleanor; his brother Howard; and his son Richard.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Mass General who cared for Bob during this difficult time. You are invited to offer condolences and pay tribute to Robert’s life by visiting his guestbook at www.thefortingroupauburn.com
