It was interesting to read the article (Jan. 9) about Gail Shelley’s experience with her surveillance camera at the stop sign at the intersection of Park Avenue, Lake Street and Gamage Avenue.

My husband and I began our married life in an apartment at the same corner. We were amazed at the number of accidents there involving drivers ignoring the stop sign. The neighbors in the area created a petition and presented it to the city. We were told that Central Maine Power Co. would install a traffic light there as soon as possible.

I wish Shelley the best of luck in her endeavor to get attention directed to that corner as we were promised the light in 1959.
