100 years ago: 1919

President Wilson may visit England on his way back to the United States next month, but it will not be to confer with statesmen there. He had hoped to sail from a British port, probably Queenstown, and have an opportunity to inspect the base of a modern flotilla which did remarkable work in the anti-submarine warfare. If he visits England he may visit for a few hours at Oxford to receive an honorary degree which that university wishes to confer on him.

50 years ago: 1969

The appointment of Marcel Bilodeau of Lewiston to the post of Maine Jaycee vice president was announced at a Thursday night meeting of the Lewiston-Auburn Jaycees at the Musical Literary Club. Bilodeau succeeds Larry Anctil of Lewiston.

25 years ago: 1994

American Legion Post 22 of Lewiston recently honored George A. Raymond, who served in the U.S. Army during World War I, at Clover Manor Health Care Center in Auburn. Raymond was presented a Post 22 membership card. Joseph Bisson, chaplain, and Jerry DerBoghosian, adjutant, made the presentation. Raymond is 93 years old and has been a member of Post 22 for 60 years.
