MINOT — Members of the Planning Board were handed additional responsibilities Monday night.

Selectmen voted to have the board serve as the committee responsible for reducing the acreage requirement for the minimal lot size allowed in the town’s land use code.

Residents have requested the minimum lot size be reduced to 2 1/2 acres from 5. The concern is that the 5-acre minimum is burdensome to land owners and has hindered the town’s growth.

Town Administer Danielle Loring said Minot will utilize the Androscoggin Valley Council of Government’s planning services to amend the comprehensive plan in ways that balance the needs of the State Planning Office and residents of Minot.

In other matters, the Planning Board discussed potential tax-acquired properties that face foreclose Thursday, and the need to implement and maintain a consistent foreclosure policy.

Selectmen also:

• Voted to send a draft of their cable franchise agreement to Spectrum.

• Invited residents to help with the 2019 Community Day. A planning meeting has been scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 4 at the Town Office.
