LEWISTON — GAHS is in need of many items to help the animals and the staff. Please take a look at the list and consider dropping off whatever you can. 

Items in need include: kitten and cat food (dry and canned); Iams or Purina puppy food (dry and canned); Iams green bag small bite dog food; pine wood pellets (used as cat litter); dog and cat toys — a variety helps with the enrichment of the animals; pet beds; pet carriers; high-efficiency liquid laundry detergent; latex and/or vinyl gloves, medium and large; blankets, towels and washcloths; 33-gallon trash bags; kitten milk replacement; Timothy hay; collars and leashes; spray bottles; soft cleansers; paper towels; gift cards to purchase gas; “Forever” postage stamps; and office supplies, like tape, copy paper, laser paper, labels, etc.

GAHS could not care for these animals or do the work they do without donations and volunteers from the community.

The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society is at 55 Strawberry Ave., and the hours of operation are: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays; noon to 3 p.m. Sundays; and closed Wednesdays.
