100 years ago: 1919

Dr. Sarah Adams Bond and Dr. Florence L. Meredith, both of Boston, arrived in Lewiston Monday to continue the series of lectures on social hygiene begun at City Hall Sunday by Dr. Sarah Sweet Windsor. Both of the physicians have had unusual preparation for carrying on a campaign of this nature, for they have both been talking hygiene to girls for years, especially in colleges.

50 years ago: 1969

The Evergreen Club of the YWCA met Friday afternoon at the Kate J. Anthony House, Turner Street, Auburn. Mrs. Nellie Wade, a member the National Board of the YWCA and co-chairman of the building committee for the new YWCA facilities on East Avenue, told of the plans for the new building, which she described from the architect’s plans.

25 years ago: 1994

Members of Bean’s Corner Baptist Church in Jay will be challenged to “dream big dreams” this spring. Pastor Roger Nauss says his people will be going on a 50-day spiritual adventure from Feb. 13 through April 3 called “Daring to Dream Again Shaking the Barriers That Hold Us Back.” Nationwide, hundreds of thousands will participate in this adventure. Pastor Nauss invites anyone who would like to be a part of this adventure to come to visit Bean’s Corner Baptist.
