CANTON – Ruth A. Holman, 89, formerly of Spring Street in Dixfield, passed away on Monday Jan. 14, 2019, at Pinnacle Health in Canton. She was born in Dixfield on Jan. 31, 1929, a daughter of Celand T. and Arlene (Boivin) Newell.

Ruth was a graduate of Dixfield High School class of 1947 and was a longtime member of the Dixfield Congregational Church.

She had been employed with the Blue Bird Restaurant, Howard’s Clothing and Dunton’s Clothing Store in Dixfield, and Diamond Match in Peru.

Ruth loved being outdoors, whether it be raking the leaves, shoveling snow, or trips with the seniors. She also loved butterflies and angels, and doing word search puzzles.

Surviving are her children Sally Martin of Dixfield, Debra Snowman and husband Harry of Dixfield, and Sandra Child of Peru; four grandchildren, Eric Snowman, John Martin and wife Trena, Jessica Robbins and husband Scott, and Jason Snowman and wife Shannon; four great-grandchildren, Kasandra Bear and husband Tucker, Gavin Martin, Grace Robbins, and Olivia Snowman.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Carl; a son-in-law Donald Child; two brothers, Donald Newell and Homer Newell, and a sister, Elizabeth Lowe.

A Celebration of Life will be held on at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, at Dixfield Congregational Church. Spring interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
