AUBURN — A Maryland man was arrested and charged in connection with a credit card skimming ring.

Local police said in a news release that they arrested Brian Boley, 32, of Takoma Park, Maryland on Wednesday after conducting a four-month investigation.
He was charged with felony forgery and theft and two misdemeanors stemming from his operation.
Deputy Police Timothy Cougle said Boley is accused of using credit card “reencoders” to fraudulently load victims’ account information onto stolen gift and credit cards.
He was found in a rented room at a Lewiston motel where police seized 80 stolen gift cards, a laptop computer, a credit card reader-writer and other evidence of crimes after executing a search warrant.
In addition to the felonies, which carry maximum penalties of five years in prison apiece, Boley was charged with misused of scanning device or reencoder and possession of forgery devices, both misdemeanors.
He was taken to the Androscoggin County Jail where he was held in lieu of $25,000 cash bail.
