SOUTH PARIS – Georgia E. Curtis passed away on Jan. 25, 2019, at Market Square Healthcare Center after many years living with Parkinson’s Disease. She was born on Paris Hill on Jan. 12, 1936, the daughter of Merton S. Curtis and Tirzah M. Curtis.
She started school in the little one room school house in Hebron Center. She graduated from Mechanic Falls High School in 1953. She went to Providence Barrington Bible School, graduating in 1957, and the University of Maine in 1960. She retired from 35 years of teaching in Christian Schools in New Mexico, Florida and from public schools in Maine.
She was a longtime member of the Pleasant Street Baptist Church. She belonged to the Oxford Homemaker’s group and the Parkinson’s support group.
She leaves behind her brother Raymond and Lane Curtis; two nephews, Michael and Ann, and David and Sandy; and many great nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday Feb. 1, at 2 p.m. at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 980 Turner St., Auburn. Arrangements are under the care of Chandler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 45 Main Street, South Paris. Online condolences may be shared with her family at www.chandlerfunerals.com
