LEWISTON — Flute and violin duets by G. F. Telemann will be featured at this week’s Oasis of Music from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at Trinity Church, 247 Bates St.

Chris Lansley, flute, and Greg Boardman, violin, will play sonatas written by the baroque composer who, in all his 86 years, had one of the largest outputs of music of any European composer. A contemporary of Bach and Vivaldi, Telemann wrote for orchestra, chorus, small ensembles and soloists, for musicians performing in churches, opera houses, concert halls and the homes of royalty and more common music-lovers.

The sonatas on Wednesday’s program were likely originally commissioned by and written for specific talented amateurs for home use. Admission is free, with donations accepted.
