LEWISTON – Wayne Crawford Marley passed away peacefully at his home on Feb. 1, 2019, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 77. He was born in High Point, N.C. on Aug. 13, 1941, the son of the late Marvin and Marietta (Styles) Marley, and grew up there before entering the United States Air Force on Oct. 1, 1961.

During his stay at the Brunswick Naval Air Station he would often come to Lewiston with friends. It was during one of these visits that he would meet his wife, Connie. Connie and Wayne were married on Sept. 25, 1965 and spent the next 53 plus years building their lives together and raising their two wonderful sons.

Wayne worked in a management position for Pioneer Plastics for 17 years, but his true passion was driving an 18-wheeler.  He did long-haul driving for Pioneer Plastics, Lily Transportation, R.C. Moore, and Chapman Trucking. His job often took him away from home but his family always knew they were loved, no matter where his job took him.

Wayne’s other passion was scouting. He served Boy Scout Troop 160 of Lewiston from the early 1980s until the troop disbanded in 2012. Over the years, Wayne served the Abnaki District in many rolls from RoundTable Commissioner Staff to Training Chairman. Wayne played an instrumental role in establishing Troop 160 Memorial Scout Camp.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Connie; his two sons, Michael (Julie Doane) and Steven (Anne); his 11 grandchildren; and a beloved family member, Robynn.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 8, at 1 p.m., in the funeral home. Burial will be held later in the spring. Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, February 8, from 11 a.m. until time of service at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home, 305 Alfred Plourde Parkway, Lewiston, ME 04240. 784-4023
