RUMFORD — Besides making cards and heart-shaped books on Valentine’s Day, kindergarten teacher Jessica Curato’s students worked on math skills by counting and sorting candy hearts she gave them.
Only after the Rumford Elementary School students completed sorting by color, counting, and coloring a graph could they keep, and most likely, eat their candy.
And candy hearts aren’t the only edible items the students have used to practice their math assignments; they’ve also recently used fruit loops, Curato said.
The entire school celebrated its 100th day Tuesday, a day early because school was canceled Wednesday because of a storm.
