WEST PARIS — The Oxford County Soil & Water Conservation District will host a workshop on how to tap maple trees and make maple syrup March 9.

It will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at Jim Record and Son Real Maine Maple Syrup sap house and sugarbush, 7 Gates Hill Road.

The workshop is for those who would like to learn what it takes to produce smaller amounts of maple syrup for family and friends. Record will give a hands-on presentation of the basics: identifying trees, tapping trees and equipment needed and making syrup. Barrel stoves and sourcing supplies will also be discussed.

Dress for the weather.

The workshop is $10 per family and covers demonstrations, snacks and written materials. Preregistration is required by March 4.

To register, for more information, or to request a reasonable accommodation, contact Jean Federico at OCSWCD at 207-744-3119 or oxfordcountyswcd@gmail.com.
