ROCKY HILL, Conn. – Dorothy A. (Bazinet) Nelson, 70, of Tolland, Conn., formerly of Lewiston, Maine, died shortly after arrival at Rocky Hill General Hospital on Valentines Day, Thursday Feb. 14, 2019.

Born in Lewiston, Sept. 1, 1948, the daughter of the late Joseph and Priscilla Gagne Bazinet, she graduated from Lewiston High School in 1966.

Dot enjoyed going to the ocean, especially Old Orchard Beach, spending time with family, reading and watching the birds. She will be remembered for her love of animals. She had recently acquired a new kitten that brought her joy.

She is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob) Nelson of Tolland, Conn., whom she married May 5, 2011; her children, Steve Coffren and his partner, Kelly Strout, of Oakfield, Maine, Robert Frechette and his wife, Stephanie, of Lewiston, Maine, and Dianna Frechette Higgins and her husband, Justin, of Litchfield, Maine; six grandchildren; her sisters, Monique Breault and husband, Simeon, of Brunswick, Maine, Pauline Dube of Augusta, Maine, Therese Roy and husband, Ron, of Lewiston, Maine; her brother, Edwin Bazinet of Monmouth, Maine; her aunt, Florence G. Michaud of Falmouth Maine; many nieces, nephews and cousins; her brothers and sister-in-law, Jim Nelson of Lewiston, Maine, Brenda Laperuta of Connecticut, Larry Nelson of Connecticut, Donald Nelson of Connecticut.

She was also predeceased by her husband, Edwin Coffren and her brother, Alfred Bazinet.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 23, from 1 p.m., followed by a Liturgy of The Word at 2 p.m., at The Fortin Group Plummer & Merrill Funeral Home, 217 Turner St., Auburn, Maine.
